Welcome sports rehabilitation laboratory
Invitation to Research
We all, Sports rehabilitation laboratory, are engaged in academic research and other various activities, to become a "world-leading laboratory". One of the features of our laboratory is a lot of members compose the team, including 3 faculty members, 22 graduate students, and 6 seminars (undergraduate) students. We have 3 policies; 1. Be altruistic, 2. Strengthening the individuals and acting on one’s initiative, 3. Enhancing sensitivity and improving observation skills. Based on these policies, here is the environment where we can grow as people, and researchers.
Regarding our research, we have focused on the study related to treatment/intervention (physiotherapy and rehabilitation) and prevention of sports injuries and disability. Additionally, we have developed our research in the area of supporting and study for para-sports, preventing health improvement, and invention/obtained a patent of medical and welfare equipment. We have conducted the physical test and assessment for local people, and participated in the support for athletes including para-athletes in the sports field, and we are also engaged in the improvement of urinary incontinence symptoms and health promotion for the elderly as an industry-academia collaboration. In Olympic and Paralympic games 2020 held in Tokyo last year, 9 members of our laboratory participated as medical and support staff and contributed to the facilitation of the games.
We participate in many academic national/international conferences to obtain the opportunities to present our study and research, and to learn from studies by other researchers. Not only this, but we are also promoting efforts toward internationalization through exchanges with overseas students and researchers, and meetings with foreign joint research facilities. In recognition of these activities, we have been much-awarded from both inside and outside of the university. These awards, such as that from the university, the Best Presentation Award at international conferences, and the Young Venture Award, have energized our laboratory as a whole. We hope to further accelerate this momentum and realize our goal of becoming a "world-leading laboratory" in the future.
The public, especially for Japanese, feels that medicine and surgery are necessary to maintain our health. However, it is a fact that "exercise" is also essential for better health. As researchers and physiotherapists, we hope to inform people about the importance of exercise and the many valid things related to exercise. We appreciate you if you have interest in the activities of our laboratory, and we would like to conduct research with you here. If you are interested, please let us know by contacting us at our e-mail first.
